Migratowns: migration and diversity in small-towns and rural areas aims to advance knowledge and understanding on emerging trends and transformations in international migration and migration-related diversity, with a special focus on small and medium-sized towns, rural areas and non metropolitan hubs in Europe. In particular, the focus is on placemaking processes and long term changes, as much as on the multilevel governance of migration and diversity. The series publishes theoretically sound policy-oriented multidisciplinary works based on both qualitative and quantitative research, empirical observations and case studies – with a constant eye on the comparative dimension – providing new insights and relevant policy suggestions. Hence, the series aims to gain attention from academia, policymakers, civil society organizations, and minority groups, also to support the planning and implementation of incorporation policies at local level.
Topics may include but are not limited to the following:
- Migration trends, causes and incorporation processes
- Placemaking and migration
- Local integration policies, practices and services, multilevel governance arrangements of migration and diversity policies
- The role of local networks and Civil society organizations
- Challenges of the local policy making processes
- Mobilization, representation and participation of migrants’ communities
- Comparisons among countries and different types of locales
